Illustration Friday - Float

Hmmmm.... we all know butterflies "fly". They also glide, as I've often watched them surf the air currents over my vineyard on a breezy day. But do they float? Okay, I suppose not, but they sure seem to at times. This particular one is resting...... this is a colored pencil sketch done on Stonehenge paper.

Hmmm....this drawing ALMOST makes me wish for warm weather again. I think a butterfly fits right in with the theme of "float". Wonderful work, as always.

I love how you have captured the actual texture of a wing - very difficult to do! It's Spring at my house :)

I love your work! Thanks so much for telling me about your technique last week... This is so pretty! I can almost feel the velvety softness of the butterfly's wings, and the oval background makes it look as if it's a minitaure portrait. Lovely:>

You've given the butterfly such a luminous quality. It's quite beautiful!
